A neighbor gifted us black walnut seedlings he dug up from his yard — we planted them along the East side of the end of the farm path. Another twenty years, and we’ll have some more big walnuts lining the path!
The whole farm area was an overgrown field, and we’ve cleared a lot of multiflora rose and brambles. But I think we’re going to let the staghorn forest stay … it’s kind of cool looking.
We should finally be past freezing nights for the season, so it’s time to get the fruit plants out in the orchard. I’ve got a couple of gooseberries and a hardy fig to put somewhere. But, in the next few days, I’ll get the currants, honey berries, seaberries, pawpaw, and cherry trees planted.
